Natural Makeup Look featuring Chantecaille

Natural Makeup Look featuring Chantecaille. Used Chatecaille Future Skin Foundation in Banana, Chantecaille Radiance Gel Bronzer, Chantecaille Mermaid Eye Color in Copper, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, and Charlotte Tilbury Kissing Lipstick in Stoned Rose. Five Product Face.

I used to walk past the Chantecaille counter on my way to a more flashy counter, like M.A.C. or Nars. But as I’ve become more conscious of ingredients, less interested in loud makeup, more focused on skincare, and above all, more willing to spend money on the right products, I have become increasingly more interested in the brand. Last week I decided to make the switch to cruelty-free products. The thing is, I’m a luxury beauty lover, and my favorite brands such as YSL and Tom Ford all test on animals. Chantecaille to the rescue. Not only is the brand cruelty-free, but the vast majority of their products are vegan and devoid of nasties like sulfates, phthalates, mineral oils, etc.

The goal of this look is to even out the complexion and enhance your natural features. The idea here is not to look like you’re a makeup artist or for someone to even notice your makeup. Rather, the focus is on looking like you’ve got great skin, have had a full nights rest, and generally have your shit together. It’s the perfect look for any event in which you want your personality to shine rather than your makeup. The best part about it, besides the fact that it’s a full face with only five products of course and that all the products are vegan, is that it does not require any brushes.

The Products.

This look features three Chantecaille Products that I invested in last week - $78 on a foundation is an investment. Future Skin Foundation, one of the most skin like foundations I've ever tried, Radiance Gel Bronzer, which imparts a very sophisticated glow to the skin, and Mermaid Eye Color in Copper, which on my complexion is more like a warm champagne that doubles as a highlighter.

Chatecaille Future Skin Foundation, “Banana”, $78. I sampled this foundation at least three times in the past, so I wasn’t surprised that it has become everything I could have wanted and more. It glides on effortlessly, has a lovely natural fragrance, and applies just as well with fingers, a sponge, or a brush. The consistency is very much a gel, and because of that, it offers a very lightweight feel. It provides a light to maybe medium buildable coverage, but what it lacks in pigment it makes up for its delivery of flawless, natural looking skin.

Chantecaille Radiance Anti-Age Gel Bronzer, $57. This bronzer was the product from my haul that I was most skeptical about, but I have been using it nonstop since I purchased it. Chantecaille doesn’t have the most robust shade range when it comes to the darker side of the spectrum, so I figured the bronzer would be most suitable for lighter skin tones. I was wrong – it’s rich and creamy and is the first cream bronzing or contouring product that I feel 100% comfortable applying with my fingers.

Chantecaille Mermaid Eye Shadow, “Copper”, $34. This color is an absolute staple that everyone should have in their collections, but I can’t say that I don’t already have a half-dozen iterations of it in palettes, singles, and creams that I’ve purchased in the past. I justified the purchase by reminding myself that did not really have anything like it that was cruelty-free.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, $23. Although what’s pictured is a sample size, I’ve gone through about three tubes of the stuff and since discovering it’s vegan, I have a feeling I’ll be purchasing a new one soon enough. It has a huge brush, which can be messy, but the results are great.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick, “Stoned Rose”, $34. This is my most used lipstick and the only one I own that I’m sure I’ll use all the way up. It's a cross between a “my lips but better” shade and a perfect peachy nude for my complexion. It’s luxurious, moisturizing, lasts forever, can be applied without even looking in a mirror, and doubles as a cream blush if I’m in a rush.
